Maned Wolf

i like these little drawing/sketching exercises where i draw something other than horses XD

this time it's the maned wolf! i love these creatures, they're so odd looking and beautiful, i love their too-long legs and foxy faces ^_^ all reffed off random pictures from google searches.

Fun facts!
- The Maned Wolf is neither a fox nor a wolf but a seperate genus all together, not closely related to any living modern canids. It is actually a surviving species from the Pleistocene era (some 1.8 million to 10,000 years ago)
- It is the tallest wild canid in the world standing up to 3.5 ft (1 m)
- The maned wolf is a native of South America, ranging from Brazil to Peru
- It is considered a near threatened by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) but is listed Vulnerable by the Brazilian government
- It is known as "aguará guazú" (meaning “large fox” in the Guarani language, as "lobo guará" in Portuguese and as "lobo de crin" in Spanish.
- It has also been given the name "skunk wolf" because of its distinct odor.
